If the Plumbing burst and casues damage, yes. In other words, say your water heater goes and pours water all over the floor. The damage to the floors and items in your basement will be covered. Keep in mind that placing claims brings you closer to having your policy canceled. Do it wisely!

Here's another answer:

Depends on what you mean by "cover". If you have a plumbing problem like I did, where my main sewer line in my back yard collapsed because it was old and tree roots were crushing it, then no. If you have a collapsing sewer line, and water backs up into your basement, then in Wisconsin you would need to have a special endorsement to cover backup of sewers and drains for even the clean up and repair inside of your house to be paid for. If you are just asking if damage to your house as a result of broken pipes is covered, again I would say "it depends"! I don't think any company out there would pay to repair the plumbing, but they might pay for the resulting damage.

Always check your policy. Insurance companies are in the business of making money. You would assume that this damage is covered but it depends on the policy. Most companies in Texas do, but it is not a given. Always call your insurance company and ask if damage is covered. Repairs are almost never covered anymore.

In most countries, if you have home or household insurance, it covers everything, from your house, to plumbing, even under your house, and even your front driveway gate. IN ADDITION: Most countries will only insure plumbing or electrical on your property if installed or maintained by a qualified tradesman or registered company.

Virtually all home insurance policies today cover plumbing leaks that are sudden and accidental. Homeowners policies sometimes specifically exclude long-term plumbing leaks which the home owner must have been aware of, but have done nothing about. Water damage caused by failure in plumbing is usually covered by homeowners insurance if certain conditions are met. To know more information visit at- alliedallcityinc.com

Water damage caused by failure in plumbing is usually covered by homeowners insurance if certain conditions are met. Homeowners policies sometimes specifically prohibit long-term plumbing leaks which the homeowner must have been knowledge of, but have done nothing about. One of the major types of loss claims is plumbing-related. These can range from minor leaks to major flooding of the house, caused by a plumbing, usually hot water line & break. Fortunately, homeowners insurance covers plumbing line leaks, provided that the owner notifies the insurer in due course. For more information visit at: alliedallcityinc.com

This depends so much on the wording in your policy it is impossible to answer on here. Factors that the insurance company takes into account are is it a pressured line, a drain line, within the foundation, below the surface of the ground, is it intermittent, seeping, leaking, flowing, etc... Generally speaking if it is a small dripping leak it will not be covered by most insurance policies. If it has been occurring over a long period of time it will not be covered. In most situations it would be covered if the water loss was sudden and accidental and from a pressurized supply line.

If your plumbing has burst due to a covered peril such as lightning strike, freezing, etc then yes it is covered. If the plumbing is just old and in need of repair or upgrade then No. Maintenance issues, plumbing or otherwise are never covered under a homeowners insurance policy. However, if you have "Accidental Water Discharge" coverage on your policy then you will be covered for other damages that are a result of a plumbing leak. Coverage for resulting damage will only invoke after the home owner has repaired the plumbing issue that led to the damage.

not really

Many homeowner's policies cover water damage, including the leak repair. If the leak is underground, though, it's probably not covered.

That would depend on your specific policy. Mine does not cover that, there may be some that do.
