Is is not standard practice for an ER to test for STDs in a patient with no symptoms. The emergency room will test for STDs if someone has a symptom that may be caused by one. Examples are painful urination, genital abscess, severe pelvic or abdominal pain, or genital lesions.
It is not part of what an ER doctor would do is check for a STI infection. If a sample is taken (blood, culture) a lab would do the analysis and results given.
it normally take them two days to get the results back and then a day for them to either call you or notify you by mail. then you also have to take into account the day that you were seen if it fall on a weekend then it will take two days after the weekend is over
The ER can diagnose an STD. So can your family doctor and clinics, which would be a more appropriate route and save you a lot of time and money.
It depends on why they are performing the blood test and what they are checking for.
