Best Answer

Yes.

A haiku is a short form poem composed of three lines of five, seven, then five syllables each.

There are other poem forms that are longer which includea haiku, such as the tanka, but these are not haikus in and of themselves.

Traditional haikus are typically short poems consisting of three lines with a 5-7-5 syllable structure. While there is some flexibility in modern haiku writing, the essence of a haiku is in its brevity and focus on capturing a specific moment or feeling. If a haiku is too long, it may lose its traditional form and impact.

No. A haiku contains 3 lines, the first line having 5 syllables, the second line having 7 syllables, and the third line having 5 syllables. There are other similar forms, but they are all short.

"Wart hogs grunting out

Beneath the cherry blossoms

The smell of bacon?"

Is an example. Note that the haiku has a reference to the season. Cherry blossoms come in Spring.

Well, then it's not technically a Haiku, but it would probably sill work - although if you entered it for a poetry competition or something, it would most likely be disqualified.
