They don't HAVE to...but i recommend it. Each book has it's own case, but especially after the first few the main character (Kinsey) tends to refer to past events a decent amount. There are ongoing relationships in her life with neighbors, family, etc that can get weird if read out of order. I got so desperate after reading A-f and not being able to find the next ones at an affordable price that i read K and M...and regretted it later because it spoiled some twists!
