Unfortunatly, most colleges look at both an SAT score and a GPA requirement for merit scholarships, if they offer any at all. An individual college's financial aid page will give more adequate details on what is available. For example, enrollment in a small private school with an SAT score of 1350 (combined Critical reading and math, not Writing) may result in a more generous offer than a state school or a school with a very high calibur.

∙ 14y agoA very high SAT score is definitely one factor that most colleges consider in awarding merit scholarships. In fact, many universities that are not Top 20 universities seek to recruit students with very high SAT scores in order to help bring up their rankings, which are based in part on the average SAT scores of incoming freshmen. I know students with SAT scores above 2250 who have applied to colleges and not even sought a scholarship and who have received acceptance letters offering them generous scholarships. Of course, what constitutes a "high" SAT score is relative. An SAT score that one school considers mediocre might be considered high by another school.
