"Faith healing" is not really a Buddhist tradition, neither is walking around with festering sores that can be treated with antibiotics. As an example HH the Dalai Lama was recently hospitalized and received medical treatment.
Like many parts of Buddhist practice the use and acceptance of needful things (food, comfort etc.) is viewed as acceptable. The pursuit of things beyond physical need is a form of lust. In the case of medicine or medical attention, the proper treatment of disease is a physical need, the need for (as an example) cosmetic surgery for a straighter nose, bigger breasts or a flatter stomach would be hard to justify.
