They always say you never need insurance until you have not got it!

Insurance covers your risks, each person develops their own view regarding what risks are acceptable and what risks need doing something about. It is up to you to decide if you need uninsured driver cover. But if you decide not to take it and get hit by an uninsured driver, the only person to moan at (apart form the criminal uninsured driver) is yourself!.

What should you do if an uninsured motorist hits your car and it is their fault?

That's what Uninsured and Underinsured motorist coverage is for. You have that on your insurance policy. I have been in this situation. The first thing you do is talk to your insurance company. Tell them about the accident and how it is their fault. It is better if you provide proof like police report or written statements, but if not, it depends on how your insurance company rules it. From there, your insurance company should tell you what your options are. Most likely, they would go after the uninsured motorist and make them pay. You don't even need to deal with the uninsured motorist.

Coverage To Drive?

If you are driving a car in the state of Illinois, then you need to carry insurance on the vehicle. Uninsured motorists can get insurance at affordable rates if they know where to look. There is a minimum amount of coverage that the driver needs to have on their insurance. This amount is not high so that drivers can get insurance coverage at an affordable rate. However, if a driver wants to take a risk and let someone else drive their car, they need to carry uninsured motorist insurance on their policy. The minimum amount for this coverage is $20,000. This covers the driver of the car if they were in an accident and were not covered under an insurance policy. In the event of a car accident and the driver of your car or the other car were not covered under their own insurance policy, the uninsured motorist coverage would protect not only yourself but the other drivers in the accident. The coverage will pay for any medical necessities that are incurred during the accident and any wages that are lost. The coverage will only pay up to the amount that you have on your insurance policy. Anything over this amount will be the responsibility of the driver. If the accident was the fault of the other driver, then their insurance will cover up to the amount listed on their policy and then your insurance will cover the remaining amount. An uninsured policy is different than an underinsured policy. An underinsured driver has insurance, but they may not have enough coverage to pay for the expenses if the driver were in an accident. An uninsured motorist has no insurance at all. The only way that an uninsured motorist can usually drive a vehicle is if there is a family member who has taken out the uninsured motorist coverage on their insurance. An uninsured policy is not expensive to get, but it would be best for the driver to obtain their own policy as soon as possible.

Is it necessary to carry uninsured motorist coverage in a no-fault state such as Florida?

Of course. Do you think that NO ONE ever drives without insurance? Be covered and be protected against financial ruin. If you are a person who rarely carries passengers and you have good health insurance (which would cover any injuries you might incur in an accident anyway) why do you need to carry uninsured motorist coverage (which only covers bodily injury, not damage to your veh)? . You don't. In addition, in Florida you are required to have PIP (usually $10,000 worth of coverage) anyway, so you end up with like triple coverage if you have a good medical policy, PIP and Uninsured Motorist coverage. MOST MEDICAL HEALTH ONLY PAYS A LIMITED PT, WHAT IF YOU NEED A NURSE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU OR FAMILY MEMEBER? YOUR MEDICAL HEALTH DOES NOT PAY FOR THAT. Contrary to what is written above, you need uninsured motorist coverage for the simple fact that it also provides for lost wages. If the accident causes you to miss time from work, how are you going to recoup those wages? Does your health insurance provide that coverage? Nope. Uninsured motorist also provides a pain and suffering benefit. If the person who hit you doesn't have the money to pay for insurance, how much money do you think you'll be able to get from them for pain and suffering? Nada. Get it- you need it. No, it is not necessary. Anyone who says you should have it without enquiring about how this might be duplicated because of other insurance coverage or job benefits is just a salesman. Each situation is different. As a general rule, however, if you have good health insurance you don't NEED this insurance.

How is one protected under car owners insurance when one drives and is in an accident with a party that does not have insurance?

You need to have uninsured motorist insurance as a rider on your insurance. If not you will have to sue the uninsured driver.

Is full coverage insurance worth paying on a salvage car?

Usually not, collision and comprehensive only pay based on pre-accident value of the car, which for a salvage is very little if anything. You will need liability and it might be useful to have uninsured motorist.

Will your insurance pay if the accident is your fault and you only have uninsured motorist insurance?

If all you have is uninsured motorists then no it will not pay. you need liability insurance to pay for damaged caused to another. Liability is what your supposed to have.

How can you find out if an insurance company for a trucking company carries uninsured motorist insurance for its drivers if that company does not want you to know?

If you really need to know your lawyer should be able to get that info for his lawsuit. A lawsuit is really the only time you would need to know this because: The trucking company carries Workmans Comp-insurance on drivers by law or you would be covered for injury under another policy if you were in a collision with another vehicle. The un-insured motorist coverage is to cover all aspects of a collision caused by another person.

Do you need uninsured mortorist coverage if you have health insurance?

Well, health insurance won't repair your car will Uninsured Motorist will. Your health insurance won't pay for your friends, relatives, or children's friends who happen to be in your car when you have an accident with an uninsured motorist when they don't have health insurance. If they are injured and have no health insurance they will look to you for payment of their injuries. The cost for U.M. coverage is relatively small for the coverage that you get. Also, if someone hits you and has no insurance the Uninsured Motorists part of your policy will act as if the person had the required insurance that they should have in paying for your losses. After your losses are paid they will go after the other party to recover the costs paid that they should have paid. The costs to collect these funds are paid by your company and once they collect these funds even your deductible will be recovered and sent back to you. The legal costs to collect these costs could be substantial.
