It isn't necessary unless someone steps on your brake pedal and pushes the cylinders out. If you compress your brake pad cylinder back in and you do not see any leaks then you are probably ok and are good to go...

YOU WILL ONLY NEED A LUG WRENCH TO TAKE OFF THE WHEELS. THE PADS CAN BE CHANGED WITH A LARGE FLAT BLADE SCREWDRIVER AND A HAMMER. You will only need a lug wrench. the pads can be changed with a large flat blade screwdriver and a hammer. the rear shoes can be changed with a pair of pliers.

Depends on your Ranger, the non 4 wheel drive take 9 inch rear brakes. The 4 wheel drive Rangers take 10 inch brakes.
