There will always be those that oppose someone who is in office, and they will try to call them down as dumb, stupid, fools, and a number of other insults, especially in modern media. Insults are just commonplace. It is easier to call someone a name than to factually discuss the real issues. They will exploit any verbal misstep that is made to try to make the president look bad.
However, to become president, you would have to work your way through life to place yourself in positions of higher power. You have to be able to read the wants and needs of the general population in order to get yourself into office. Once you are there, at the very least, you must be able to understand the complicated languages of legal paperwork. There are many presidential duties that require intelligence to carry out.
You have to be smart enough to appreciate that what the people want from you you don't always have.
