Scientologists are brought into the cult based upon the idea that it will enable them to improve themselves through a series of classes (which they must pay for) and auditing sessions (which they must pay for). After they pay for enough classes and auditing sessions they achieve different levels. At the level called OTIII they are told the great secret of Xenu. Often called the "Space Opera" (please check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_opera_in_Scientology_doctrine for the story). Scientologists and Scientology feel that this is a great secret that should never be let out so they deny it publically because after all. It sounds absolutely retarded to the un-brainwashed and would more or less destroy their recruitment efforts if it was widely known. However it has been leaked out of the cult (in it's original L. Ron Hubbard hand written form no less) and authenticated by many former high ranking members of the cult.
