Best Answer

No. However, it would be helpful if more teachers were aware of the signs of depression, as this is a highly prevalent condition (with potentially lethal consequences in its severe form, if left untreated).

How does depression affect students learning in school?

I have had depression for years and I'm currently 17. I have been the the top sets for all of my subjects and was previously aimed from all A's in my GCSE's. Due to my depression I could not focus, was easily distracted and had no motivation to do work. Depression has a massive affect in learning in school simply because if a teenager or child is sad they will almost certainly not learn in lessons. Teachers should be more aware of depression in school.
