In temperate climates such as Southern Ontario, Canada, radish is probably the fastest growing food plant, with a germination period of only a few days to a week, and a maturity of a few weeks. However, all parts of the radish plant are edible (root, stem, leaves, blossoms, seed and pods), and all have at least a mild, if not strong, radish flavor, so you can start harvesting some part of the plant as soon as it emerges, and you can continue to harvest until it has seeded and turned too woody to eat. A small handfull of radish seeds can keep you busy for the entire growing season.
