Some squids live in large schools, others are solitary. Some squids school when young and become solitary later in life.

An Octopus is much larger than a squid however, there are squids named colossal squids which can appear much larger than octopus. Have a look on Google images and look at the sizes. Also I am not sure if squid have less tentacles than octopus.

An octopus is the actual living animal. Calamari refers to fried octopus or squid tentacles.
