NO.

The story of the Titanic curse is an urban myth. The myth centers around a story that circulated that a mummy was smuggled onto the Titanic by a journalist. Supposedly, William Thomas Stead, bought the mummy from the British Museum and hid it in his car so he could smuggle it to the US.

This is not true. The British Museum never had a record of owning/receiving the mummy in question.

Titanic sank because it hit an iceberg, which opened a gash in the hull longer than engineers had expected, flooding more of the water tight compartment than engineers had calculated with.

No need to look for a curse to explain that.

The captain was under pressure to make a speedy first crossing, which is always good advertising.

And a more northern route, closer to the icebergs, is shorter and faster.

No need for a curse there either.

So in all probability, there was NO curse, only a bit of human folly and poor judgement.

Yes, according to an urban legend, there was a mummy on board the Titanic that caused the ship, and everyone associated with the mummy, to be cursed. Supposedly the mummy of the Priestess of Amen-Ra, which had caused quite a lot of bad luck to her previous owners, was on board the ship when it sank. The story goes that the mummy had been discovered in the 1890's and was sold to an Englishman. When he and those around him experienced fairly serious misfortune, he sold the mummy to the British Museum. While at the museum, the mummy supposedly continued to cause great misfortune. It was eventually purchased by William Thomas Stead, a journalist who was voyaging on the Titanic. Knowing that he would not be able to bring the mummy on board, he stashed it away underneath his car, which was in the cargo hold of the Titanic, to hide it. Stead revealed that the mummy was on board the night before the Titanic sank, thus giving rise to the urban legend that the Titanic was cursed.

On a side note, the British Museum never received the entire sarcophagus or mummy; they only received the lid of the sarcophagus and other than during war or special exhibits, the lid of the sarcophagus has never left the museum.

No, it is a common myth that people believed because the "unsinkable" ship sank. The ship was not unsinkable and was called that after the word "practically" was dropped from the sentence.
