Initially many people thought that the tower was an eye sore, as it towered over the Paris skyline. During its construction there was increased danger to the construction workers on the project because the tower was an open frame with only two platforms. However only one man died.

Currently the tower is painted regularly to prevent rust damage. There is always the danger of fire in the tower. There are two restaurants in the tower.

Incredibly few. The elevators were at first ordered from Otis, but when they arrived from America these proved to be of poor quality and were replaced with French hydraulic versions. And that's about it for setbacks. Accidents were equally rare, and there were no deaths. From start to finish, that is, from casting the first element through factory pre-assembly to completion on site, took 26 months.
