There is actually not a single verse in The Bible that speaks against polygamy, and in fact many of the patriarchs and other significant people in the Old Testament had multiple wives in addition to mistress and female servants that they could have sex with.
It wasn't until later, when Christianity was assimilated into Roman culture by the emperor Constantine, that any sort of formal decision was made about polygamy. And even then, it was debated for hundreds of years. It wasn't really until the 14-15th century that the church formally forbade polygamy. However, this only meant that one could not MARRY multiple partners. There were still many provisions within local governments and even within the church that allowed a man to have multiple female partners without them being considered "adultery", but without them being husband/wife either.
If, as the Catholics claim, anywhere that the Bible is silent (ie polygamy) the Church has the final word, God condoned and supported polygamy for most of the last 4000 years but never gave a reason (though, it may have something to do with the command given to Noah, that man must go forth and multiply), and only in the last 2-300 years was there anything even remotely questionable about the idea of polygamy.
No it does not allow Polygamy
no
Both religions consider polygamy to be immoral and a sin.
Wicca doesn't allow or disallow polygamy. Since Wiccans should abide the law of the country, if the law permits polygamy, then Wiccans would, if they wish so.In the Wiccan Rede it says, "True in love ever be, Unless they lover is false to thee".There is no reason for Wicca to disallow (or allow) polygamy - as long as you are honest and loving to each of your partners, it doesn't go against any of the set Wiccan teachings (different traditions may have different views).
48 countries allow polygamy. Two additional countries allow it in only some areas of the country. While others will recognize it in foreign marriages.
Brigham Young practiced polygamy because he believed that God had commanded him to do so.
Theologians believe that as god created only one wife for Adam, so polygamy is wrong.
Several religious groups believe in or allow polygamy, including Muslims, some Hindus, and some Christians. Anciently (in Biblical times) Jews commonly practiced polygamy as well.
Polygamy is not allowed in free democratic countries. Polygamous families are very unstable in countries that allow full civil rights to women.
None of the mainstream Christian denominations allow polygamy, especially in countries where it is illegal. There are several offshoot cults and churches which allow polygamy, but these are usually individual small churches (<1000 people) that cannot be considered denominations. There are some individuals, religious and not religious, who practice polygamy individually as well.
