Yes, he was one of the greatest. He won the war and decreased the taxes lowered government and if you look at polls you'll see what i mean.

Like- look at the election results for 1980, 1984.

he was an inspirational leader with moral values

No, he failed with his " trickle down" theory, doubled our national dept, increased government and military spending, and ruined our economy.

Although this is an opinion, some people thought he was horrible.

To the American public he was a great president more so because of his charisma and optimism than anything else. He was a brilliant orator, hence the nickname "The Great Communicator". Economic performance also made him great, the 80s in general was the most stable period of economic growth in history up to that point.

And there is Reagan's dealings with the USSR. He took a hard line stance against the Soviets, and later became close friends with primer Gorbachev. Reagan's actions - both direct but mostly indirect - helped bring down the Soviet Union and end the Cold War.

All of these things culminate in Reagan being considered one of our greatest presidents.

Reagan was a good guy in the sense that he was honest, reliable, and trustworthy. He was a good story teller and a good host. He was not a warm , caring kind of person. He was not mean, but he really did not think about what was going on in other people's lives. His wife Nancy was probably his only close friend.

Reagan realized the main way to stimulate the economy was through massive government spending, not tax cuts. He only cut taxes once during his tenure (and raised them every year thereafter) but he spent a LOT of money.

I don't really agree with a lot of the things he bought--all the Star Wars research into a system that cannot work, the Sergeant York Division Air Defense Gun research that produced an antiouthouse gun, the 600-ship Navy without enough sailors in it to put 600 ships to sea--but he DID manage to spend so much money the government ran out of it in his last year in office.

Every president has his enemies and detractors, but Reagan was liked as president in general, I would say. He won more easily the second time in 1984 than the first time in 1980.
