As far as is documented Jesus has never been to Rome.
As a youngster, He lived in Egypt - in order to escape the wrath of King Herod.
However, in terms of His mission [which is the prime record and interest of the New Testament], His mission was to Israel only - which consisted geographically at the time of mainly Jews (the Jews being, of course, just one of the 12 tribes of Israel) .
As the scriptures say, reading from John, "I came unto mine own and mine own received me not!"
However, before His ascension into Heaven, He commissioned His apostles:
"Go ye into all the world, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost".

When the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, there were many Jews from other countries in Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost. They heard the gospel from Peter and the other disciples - Acts 2 - and no doubt these people took the gospel back to the countries they came from after Pentecost. Some of these people came from Rome.

∙ 12y agoNope. Catholics believe Jesus' ministry was primarily in Jerusalem and the area around the Sea of Galilee. Catholics believe that Jesus gave Peter the keys to heaven and the charge to take care of His flock. Catholics believe Saint Peter went to Rome and became the first Pope and the succession to Pope has been a straight line from Saint Peter. This is the best way I can describe it, but the best thing, if you really care for a comprehensive answer is to ask a priest.

∙ 8y agoYes, through His apostles, Saints Peter and Paul, who brought the church to Rome, and were first martyred there. St. Peter's Basilica is built over Saint Peter's tomb; St. Paul-outside-the-walls is built over St. Paul's tomb.

For a clear answer to this question go to: Jesus in Rome, by Robert Graves and Joshua Podro, 1955, Cassell and co. There is presented good evidence of the possibility that Jesus did indeed spend time in Rome - post-crucifixion. The sources they mention are Talmudic, i.e. Jewish and are early.
