The Christian church of Jesus Christ was founded on Pentecost by the power of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem some days after Jesus had departed from them. Read this account in Acts 2:1-4.

However, nothing regarding Christ was written on paper until more than 300 years after his death. For the first decades of the church, its members were often persecuted by the Roman authorities, and it only later became adopted as the official religion of Rome.

He taught for about 3 years about 2000 years ago.

The above is an estimate, we really don't know. "Jesus" is a Greek name for a person who was probably a real Jewish rabbi named Yeshua. So properly, the question would be "When did Yeshua preach Christianity?"

The Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke) conflict on the biographical details of this person's life while the teachings are very much in agreement. This leads the majority of Biblical scholars to conclude that the teachings of Yeshua were passed on in oral and in written form prior to the writing of the Synoptics as we now have them. The authors of these books added "biographical details" to the teachings. This is why the celebrations of the life of Yeshua conform to pagan tradition and actually conflict with some of the "biographical details" given. It is not believed that these books were written by eye witnesses to the ministry of Yeshua.

Jesus was Jewish and he did not teach Christianity as we know today.

Jesus said; " Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall nowise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. ." Matthew 5:18-19

It was Paul who taught Christianity as we know of today.

Paul said; "Ye are not under the law, but under grace." Romans 6:14.

See also; Romans 7:4,6, !0:4, 2 Corinthians 3:14, Galatians 3:13, 3;24-25, 5:18, Ephesians 2:15, Collossians 2:14 .

Christianity is not a religion, but a faith. Christianity started with Jesus introduced the His doctrine. Christians are those who believe only in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven.
