The first multiplane camera was completed in 1937. Its inventor was actually William Garity, a Walt Disney Studios employee who led the team of engineers responsible for the development and building of the multiplane camera. It was Walt Disney's ideas that put the project into motion. Walt was awarded the patent in 1940.
