I believe any language is as easy/difficult as any other language if they are teached properly (best way of learing a language is being forced to listen to and speak it WITHOUT translation to your mother tongue). That's is why a british child begins to speak English at the same age as a chinese child. English as a language teached to foreigners seem to be terribly difficlt though because they teach it in a terrible way: It is a peculiar language and they try to teach it in the way an ordinary language is teached An arabic proverb applies here A wise enemy is more handy than an ignorant friend... I mean teachers of English , following the way of teaching it are so ignorant that they are more harmful than a wiser enemy.. and the more you study the less you learn.. Here is an example They teach through comparing similar topics (present perfect and past / Say, tell and speak), and this guarantees that you will never be able to learn them. 2) they frequently give misleading examples

English is relatively a very difficult language. It has so many rules and all of them have exceptions. Unlike Spanish it isn't a phonetic language, meaning all of it's word aren't spelled how they sound. It is hard to full master the language, but it is a major language of the world and will prove to be helpful throughout one's life.
