You can use as many as you want. But if you have a 54mb wireless router,

and one devise is using the 54mb then there is none left for the others.

One devise will never use this much, just trying to get you to understand the Idea.

Basically you could run 20 computers and if they are only download 1mb each

plus the browser usage, there is no problem.

All routers have different speeds, usually the more money the higher the speed.

Yes, they can. You might want to assign IP addresses manually. They should be in the same subnet.

Does wifi router and cable modem work simultanously?

Yes. In general, the cable model is required to provide a connection between your location and the cable ISP's central office, whereas the WiFi router is required to share that connection with multiple computers at your location. ISP <--> Cable Modem <--> WiFi Router <--> Many Computers Keep in mind that many cable ISPs now offer all-in-one cable modems + WiFi routers that roll up these two devices into one. In this case, having a redundant router will work, but the configuration may be confusing and is most certainly redundant.

What is a crossover cable?

It's a type of computer cable where some of the strands inside are "crossed over" compared to a "straight through" cable. You only need a crossover cable if you are connecting a computer directly to another computer. If you are connecting a computer to any other device like a switch, or a router, then you use a straight through cable, which are easier to find and cheaper. You can google for a crossover cable and it will show you a picture of which pins are crossed over.
