Have an air conditioner placed in the window or just use a fan.
Use the air conditioner whose product of votage X amps is the lowest if you want to pay the least to operate.
I suggest that you put your air conditioner on low or use the fan on the air conditioner because it uses less energy. Another thing you could do is take a regular fan and put in the window to get air flow.

no, as long as the grills clear the house and the unit is well supported you can put a 'window a/c thru the wall. it is better to use a metal case designed to slide the unit in. if you buy a unit sold as athru the wall it will cost twice as much. some units are sold to mount either way and have direction to do so.
If it's under eaves. if not you might consider some kind of cover so can use in inclement weather.
