The effects of the two different medications overlap somewhat as far as the anti-inflammatory effects go. The two medications are from two different chemical families, but are safe when mixed. Advil, more commonly known as ibuprofen, is a NSAID (Non-Steroidal, Anti-Inflammatory Drug). It's also one of the only ones of its kind you can take long term without major adverse side effects.

Yes. It is generally considered OK to take Soma with ibuprofen. Often, our bodies get in an unending cycle of muscle spasm -> more pain -> muscles tighten even more to try to stabilize the painful spot -> more pain, and on and on. Many times, in order to "get on top of" the pain, the muscle spasm and pain must be addressed at the same time.
