When taken by itself, Ambien is already known to cause behaviors almost identical to the behavior exhibited by a person who is guilty of driving while under the influence of alcohol. So when you add Ambien and alcohol together, the risk of these behaviors occurring becomes even greater. You also increase the risk of experiencing the other unwanted side effects that Ambien can produce by itself and also increase the duration of Ambien. Some of the side-effects of enhancing the potency of Ambien with alcohol are really bizarre. The good part is that, if you do experience them, you will probably not remember what you have done since the combined effect of both increases the probability that you will experience amnesia. The bad news is that, though you may not remember what you have done, you may wake up behind bars for the unconscious acts you committed while under the influence of this combined concoction.
Alcohol can greatly affect a dose of ambien in many possible negative ways. It is not a terrific idea to take the two together. If it has been 2-3 hours after a light night of drinking, then it could be fine, but any excessive drinking or taking with alcohol may have you uncovering some very nasty unintended side-effects.
i regularly drink, and need ambien to help me sleep, the only effect i had was it made you more tired. it intesfied all of the normal side effects but i didn't notice anything bad.... cant betoo great for your body but i doubt the combo is lethall by itself.
In my experience, one ambien and one beer resulted in 14 hours of lost time. Alcohol and ambien are a bad idea. When I woke up, I felt like I had died and accidentially survived.
My husband did this and punched my teenage son in the face. He doesn't remember a thing, but he has been charged with 2 counts of felony child abuse, which he deserves. do NOT MIX THESE,

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Alcohol has stimulating, depressing and mood altering functions that leave practically no circuit or system of the brain untouched. This range of effects is what sets alcohol apart from many other drugs. It acts as a stimulant when it directly stimulates those brain cells, which lead to feelings of pleasure and euphoria. It is a depressant when it slows the brain down and reduces tensions and worries. It can affect your judgment and make us things you would not usually do when sober. Alcohol acts as an anaesthetic when it shows down your reflexes and your coordinates. It can put you to sleep , it can induce a coma and it can kill. Alcohol's effects are dose related -the more alcohol you drink, the greater the effects that may occur.
The effects of alcohol intake are determines by controlled studies where people drink measured amounts of alcohol, and are then subject to various tests to determine how that amount affects them over time. This is necessary for two reasons. The effects of alcohol accumulate, so the only accurate way to test is for the subject to have one drink of a certain amount, then measure the results, along with the blood alcohol content (BAC) at that time. The other is that self-reporting of the effects of alcohol is notoriously inaccurate. For example, many people will tell you that they drive better after a couple of drinks, but everyobjective test of skills associated with driving after drinking will show otherwise. The first things that go when we drink are inhibitions, and the second is judgment. That's why lab tests are the only accurate way to go.
No. However, the effects tend to occur more slowly as a result of tolerance to alcohol.
This combination is not recommended, due to excessive sedation which may very likely occur.
