Since most flea markets that have concession stands own those concession stands, it would be unwise of them to allow other vendors to sell foods that compete with them. Or the flea market may have signed a non-compete clause with the concessions owners. Because of this many flea markets and swap meets will not allow anyone else to sell food and drink that is designed to be consumed right away. If they do allow it, they will charge the concessions vendors something like $100 per day for space rent when the people selling shoes and used stuff only get charged $12. ($100 a day may sound excessive but only because you don't yet realize how many hundreds or thousands of dollars concessions pull in each day at busy flea markets. People love to eat!) There are many flea markets that are no more than a bunch of vendors set up in a large grassy farm field. There are no concessions there and nowhere nearby to get something to eat or drink. That would be a great place for a hotdog cart with cold drinks (pop, bottled water, apple juice, etc.) Most flea markets have no problem with anyone selling foods that are not designed to be consumed on the premises, even if they have their own concessions. Foods such as canned goods, produce, boxes of cold cereal, loaves of bread, cookies, cakes, sweetrolls, all may be allowed, because they don't compete with the concessions. Speak with the folks in the office and obtain a copy of the market rules, which will list items that are not allowed to be sold there. That will tell you for sure. Selling at flea markets has never been easier. It's a great way to supplement your current income or replace it altogether just working weekends.
In the U.S., most state health departments require food venders to be licensed and have the food preparation area (kitchen) inspected by the health department.
yes you can sell food at the flea market but its most probably that you would get a food infestation
you can not sorry it is against the law because they do not know if you made it in a clean environment or put some chemical in it that could make someone sick.
Some farmers markets do allow home cooked foods, eggs and home made items they have made.
When deciding what kind of food to sell a a flea market, think about what will keep well. Also keep packaging in mind, look at other sellers to see whether they sell individual or family size servings. Some ideas are jams, cookies, and homemade sauces.
