In Florida, you cannot receive unemployment if you quit your job. You receive it if you are laid off, not if you quit. I assume that is true of other states but unemployment specifics vary from state to state.

Answer:

The US Dept. of Labor says that you must be unemployed Through no fault of your own and that is determined by particular State laws. Depending on that state law, to quit to move somewhere else is not "through no fault of your own". Some states do allow unemployment benefits if you quit for non-job related reasons (i.e. spouse relocation, military, domestic violence issues, etc.) The Related Link below gives many facts about unemployment laws and rules. Mainly, check with your own State's unemployment office for clarification in you. state.

As each state has different employment laws, it depends on the state you work in and the reasons for quitting the job. Contact your state's employment security office for clarification.
