if you have a bleeding nose most people say to plug it and tip your head backwards. well actually when a bleeding nose is occurring you should tip your head froward allowing the blood to run out of your nose and keep your nose clear of dried blood in the throat what can occur while tipping your head backwards. it is much healthier and better to tip your head forward.

I get nose bleeds like twice a year (so not very often) except they go very long .Your surposed to hold your nose up the top near your boney thing and hold a tissue near your nose so that any blood coming out doesn't go every wear hope this helped !!

∙ 12y agoNo. Tilting your head back allows blood to drain down your throat, into your stomach or lungs. This can cause choking, vomiting or coughing. Tilting your head forward allows the blood to drain out of your head and pinching your nose just below the bridge applies pressure to stop the bleeding.

∙ 10y agowell you definitely don't want to tilt your head back and risk the possibility of you drowning on your own blood. so my advice would be to get a paper towel, or toilet paper twist it up and stick it in your nose, or you can always do like in the movie "she's the man" and stick a tampon up your nose.. that actually works. :)
