No, this is a significant medical condition and you will not be allowed to enlist. If you think to hide this disease, know a battery of labs are drawn as a precondition to enlistment and it will be discovered.

I have been researching this because I am diabetic and would love to go into the military. From what I've found (and it kills me to say this) insulin dependant people are NOT allowed in the military at all. They are prevented from even going through basic training. Without basic training, you can't even get a desk job in the military. But look at the bright side, they're pretty close to a cure. Hope this helps. :)

add-on - there are other ways to get into the military without going through bootcamp, examples are if your really good with a musical instr. you can try and apply for one of the elite ones, because the "Presidents Own" (his Marine Corps Bad) don't go through bootcamp and get an automatic starting rank of SSgt. also, some Officers don't go through any real forms of bootcamp, just college.

actually i have talked to alot of people in the military the people who give you information to be allowed to join and insulin taking diabetics are allowed in the military if you can cover the expenses on your own but you are only allwed to work in a non combat position , because when your out their fighting people cant be worrying if something is going to go wrong they need to be able to depend on you

Depends on type 1 or 2.

If type 1, no, call up a recruiter and tell them you have type 1 and see how fast they hang up lol. I'm type 1 and I've had recruiters call and I told them I have it and they said oh, well do you have any friends who wanna join?
