Were you convicted? That's what makes a big difference.
In NYC when applying for a gun permit the New York Police Department will investigate every arrest incident, even if it resulted in a dismissal. You will be asked to explain the circumstances of each incident in writing and you will be questioned about it during the police interview. If you were ever convicted of any crime your chances of getting an NYPD gun permit are slim to none.
