Can you gauge your ears without them being pierced?

Using body jewelry that is tapered will help stretch the existing hole in your ear. Regular earrings are extremely thin, but if you play with them enough, you can stretch the skin enough to accept a thicker earring. I would use Neosporin, or some other antibacterial ointment to lubricate the end of your thicker jewelry, and then slowly push it into the existing hole. Don't force it, though. You have to give your skin time to adjust to the thicker guage of jewelry. If it hurts, stop, and put your thinner jewelry back in. Forcing it can tear the skin, or cause a "blow out", where the edges of your existing piercing can literally tear away pieces of skin. Wait 4-5 weeks between each guage, if you want to continue stretching. Heavier jewelry, like anything make of surgical steel, will help stretch your skin faster then lightweight acrylic. And yes, if you take the jewelry out, your ears will go back to normal. I took out my 2 guage tunnels and was able to wear regular earrings within 6 months or so.

You don't! Gauging your ear is always going to be painful but you can make it hurt less by taking painkillers about 5 hours before you plan to do it, then taking more about an hour to half an hour before, it should numb the pain when you do gauge it. But be careful and don't OD etc Hope I helped

First of all, the term is "stretch", not "gauge"; "gauge" is the size of the jewelry. Secondly, no. How would you make a large hole in your ear, without there being a hole to begin with? Stretching is a long process that takes a lot of time and patience, depending on how large your goal size is.

In a way you can, for bigger plugs you can wrap PTFE tape around you plugs to slowly stretch. But you can't just shove a bigger plug in, that's surely going to cause a blowout or rip your ears.

I once used a straw to re-stretch my ear, i folded down and end so it got gradually got bigger and just slid it u, but i would use a proper taper to be hnest with you, just incase. :D

Using whatever you can find isn't a safe way to stretch your ears properly. I suggest using a sterile, stainless steel tapering kit.
