If you are on a pill such as OrthoTricyclen, you are given a week of 'dummy' pills which contain no hormones. This allows your body to have a period. If you have unprotected sex during this time you should be protected from pregnancy just as any other time of the month. HOWEVER you should NEVER have unprotected sex unless you are in a committed, monogamous relationship with someone whom you know definitely has a clean bill of health. No hormonal Birth Control protects you from diseases such as AIDS and herpes, only barrier methods such as condoms will do that. And please, still be careful!

As long as you are taking your birth control at the same time everyday you can't get pregnant as long as you are taking the birth control. So if you for example have been taking birth control for five months so far you can't get pregnant those five months. As long as you are taking the pills you are safe from getting pregnant. If at anytime you are worried that you are take a pregnancy test. It you have any questions I suggest calling your health care provider.

Not exactly. If you have been taking the pill as you are supposed to it is probably around 95%-99% effective. You probably don't have a very large chance of getting pregnant. It is a good idea very wise of you to be using condoms while taking the pill as well, but it most likely wont hurt ever once in a while. But if you are taking any other medication in conjunction, you should ask your OB/GYN because some pills (most all anti biotics in a sense "de-activate" the pill" and you need to use a back up form of contraception.

The odds are very slim, but not impossible, that you'll become pregnant. Generally, you have to go three days without the pill to "undo" the pill. If in doubt, use a condom.

For starters it usually takes a week for birth control to begin working. Secondly if you were using the pill then miss your pill for even one day your chances of getting pregnant go up.
