In many countries, yes, they can perform almost all of the same roles as men (infantry positions are typically barred from women, for various reasons).

In some countries, women may not join the army or any of the armed forces at all.

Women in the United States of American can indeed fight in the military. Women in America are actually encouraged to fight in the military.

ANS 2 - I must have missed the reference to the USA. - Woman can and do fight in MANY military forces of the world. In fact the USA was one of the latecomers in allowing this.

hi, apparently women cant fight in the army, is that true?

Women can and can't fight in the army. Women can fight, but not in battles. Women are human beings also, meaning they are capable of thinking and learning, they can learn how to fight just as any other men. But in battles women dont make it on the long run. During Medival and Ancient times women were not the front line warriors, as their smaller bodies and weaker bones would had shattered on the first shield impact, there haved been female leaders and femaler soldiers, but their reign haved not been of long history as males. In modern warfare females DO NOT have the role of soldiers, they can be support such as clinical doctors, airplane pilots and intelligence but NEVER front line soldiers, it has been tested to see if women can be front line soldiers and it proved to be a failuer. On front line battles the women emotional state of mind proved to be a wreck after taking a tour of 7 months, much higher than the male counterparts, their much weaker bodies could not tolerate the inpact of carrying heavy gear over long distances (weeks, months). The women menstrual cyrcle also proved to be a major issue, as it needs to be cleaned in order not to recive inflection and real war scenario the boys go at times weeks without showers.

Women haved ALWAYS been part of the military, they are thought how to defend them self, but their main task has been of providing support for the men in battle. In modern combat its no exception, women can be in the army and be soldiers, just not warriors.

I believe so, yes. Women may not be as phsyiologically apt as men are but there are plenty of women that work hard enough to gain the muscle and the endurance needed to be in the army. Also many people in the army do not need muscles but good training with their weapons. Many people try to argue that women should be looking after their children and that being a mother is more important but by the same reasoning father's should not leave their children either.

The infantry and armor are the fire and maneuver branches in the army. This means they intentionally make close contact with the enemy in order to engage and destroy him. Women are not allowed in these two branches. This doesn't mean they still don't find themselves in hostile situations that arise in todays asymmetric battlefield.

Nowadays they can, yes.

Due to the international Human Rights Act, women must be given the same, equal opportunities as men.

There are hundreds of female war heroes to this day, both modern and from the past. The oldest most famous example is probably Joan of Arc, from around the 1400's.

Women can go into active combat in most national military (though not all of them). Generally however they are given extra protection by their male comrades, since women are vulnerable to abuse in the hands of the enemy.

But yes, they can serve in most modern armies in active combat.
