Yes they are getting incredibly fast and are definitely faster then a super computer say 2-3 years ago; however, today's super computers are advancing just as fast. They are always going to be faster then your home computer, that's why they are called super computers.

Jaguar is abuilt by Crayat Oak_Ridge_National_Laboratory(ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Built November 2009 as of May 2010 it was still the fastest computer in the world and can calculate 1.75 petaflops, 1,750,000,000,000,000 calculations per second.
The fastest Intel CPU can do 107gigaflops which is 107,000,000,000. Although the CPU is not the part of the computer that performs calculations there is still no way a personal computer could be faster than a "Super" Computer.
But the Intel processor alone is faster than Super computers of the early 1990's... If all calculations operations are taken into account a personal computer of today is on par with the super computers of the mid to late 90's.
