I have an 84 Suzuki Hatch 800 which I believe is called Suzuki Alto in other countries. The two speed auto is reluctant to shift up particularly after a cold start and enquiries and a test drive at a good transmission shop indicated that the seals are worn and need replacing. This would cost more than the car is worth as it requires removal of the engine and transmission and a complete rebuild of the transmission. The shops recommended workaround is to warm up the transmission thoroughly before driving off making the seals more supple so they function properly which has worked fairly well so far. The transmission shop did not suggest adjusting the bands. I hope this is relevant to your problem. Cheers, Max
