I think your are referring to the middle ages classic, Dante's Inferno.

It has nothing to do with biblical text, it is not referenced in The Bible. its a play, as a movie script if you will, of the authors idea of what an eternal hell would be like based upon belief in Philosopha doctrine, its 5 pillars and the use of dialectics.

In reality there is no permenant place known as hell in biblical texts. As a matter of fact, the word hell is never used in either Hebrew or Greek. Using a Strong's concordance will provide you a more accurate connection to the words used in Hebrew and Greek which were translated Hell in the English bible. I can think of at least 3 different Greek words which were translated hell in the English bible, New Testament, all of them with a different meaning one from another.

4 biblical texts will help you understand what happens to souls when they leave their flesh body(earthly vessel). Use a KJV bible and Strong's Concordance/Dictionary.... to understand the actual words used and their meanings.

1- 1st Corinthians 15 (the Vessels the soul resides within)

2- Ecclesiastes 12:7 (who actually owns your soul)

3- Luke 16 (the two places you soul may reside in after death and until judgment day)

4- Revelation 20 and 21 (1000 years of teaching under Christ, Judgment, and what happens to souls after judgment) Hint:you do not reside in an eternal hell, Christ referred to it as Gehenna (burning pits outside the temple in Jerusalem)

There are some excellent personal accounts from folks who had what is coined a "near death experience" (NDE). Each describes exact details about the two places one's soul can reside in, after the death of your flesh body, and before the real Christ returns.

Its important to understand that this Earth will undergo 3 iterations, which we are now in the 2nd iteration. Your soul resided in the 1st iteration as well as this second one. (2nd Peter Ch 3)

Those who went to the other side of the great gulf fixed (often referred to as hell), then later went to the door (John 10)

Howard Storm

Ian McCormick

Those who were headed to be round about the Throne of our Father (but were stopped and sent back). Both talked to Christ himself

Colton Burpo

Dr Mary Neal

To assist with what these folks will provide details of, you will need to understand John chapter 10. What is written there will be referred to by the personal narratives these people provide, who were sent back to testify after they were dead.

A word of Caution:

Read these things for yourself and don't allow yourself to be swayed by television personalities or video snippets, (aka short cuts) Dig out the evidence for yourself and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in understanding it. You will be able to discern it for your own if you base things on the biblical references provided.
