It is possible, although it is very rare to be allergic to water. It isn't even exactly an allergy, but has been described as one. It is a condition called 'Aquagenic urticaria' and it causes a painful reaction- sometimes a rash- when you come in contact with water. See 'related links' for an example of a case of this condition.

∙ 13y agoYes, people are allergic to water. There is a disease called aquagenic urticaria and it makes it so that whenever you come in contact with water your skin breaks out in soar, blistery red rashes. Although, this case is very rare and only effects 1 in 230 million people.

∙ 11y agoAlthough this is an extremely rare, there are indeed people who have a skin sensitivity to water. The symptoms are a painful skin reaction when coming into contact with water. This condition is known as aquagenic urticaria.

∙ 13y agoIt is. It's a condition called aquagenic pruritus. Basically, the skin begins to react heavily when contact with water has been made. You become incredibly itchy and could happen with even a simple sweat.

∙ 12y agoNo, it's not possible for people to be allergic to water basically because water is a part of everyday life and without it you can and will die. But i do believe there are some types of water people can be allergic to... like for instance flavored waterr....! :]

∙ 13y agoYes, some people have a water intolerance or sensitivity. For example, some people may have an internal reaction to water. Other people, and animals, who have eczema (not all eczema sufferers) can be greatly aggravated by water on the skin. Those are just two examples. It can be specific types of water or water from a specific region or regions that cause the reactions.
