Best Answer

Yes, Rabbits can and will eat the bark from trees.

Most bark is safe, but conifers and other 'pine' type trees are toxic to rabbits.

Rabbits have a particular fondness for apple and pear trees.

First answer: Usually in the wild they do live on grass and water, but they have to have water, hay, and pellets if your keeping them in captivity.

Second answer: Grass won't give your rabbit the nutrients it needs to live a long, happy, healthy life. It also won't wear your rabbit's teeth down enough, so the teeth will overgrow, leading to pain, infection, starvation, and death.

If you can't afford to feed your rabbit anything but grass, then you should find a new home for her that can take care of her properly. Look around for a local animal shelter or rabbit rescue organization to help you.

A healthy diet for a pet rabbit includes lots and lots of grass hay (hay is tougher than fresh grass, and this helps wear the teeth down), as well as fresh leafy greens and pellets. See the related questions and links below for more information.

Yes, rabbits prefer green plants. Green plants make up most of a wild rabbit's diet. Pet rabbits eat mostly hay, which is a dried green plant (grass). See the related questions below for more info.

They don't actually eat the tree, they may eat the leaves, or chew on the bark to keep their teeth short.
