It would most certainly depend on the species of shark. Many bottom dwelling sharks seem tobe repelled bysharp noise such as hitting metal against metal (in the case of metal against Scuba tanks) or the noise of air bubbles nearby. Sand Tiger sharks and Hammerheads are also in genral very shy and a loud enough noise underwater would be sure to scare them.
DO NOT count on sound keeping you safe from dangerous shark species such as Great Whites, bulls, tigers, or oceanic whitetip sharks. There is no proven shark repellent and they should be given the proper distance and respect.

Punching a shark in the nose would hurt the shark, but not permanently It would only temporarily hurt the shark. Also if you got attacked by a shark, do try to punch it in the nose because it stuns the shark for a short time allowing you to get out of it's jaws or away.
