unfortunately when a female cat goes into heat she will mate with any male cat she can find no matter what. this accidentally happened to me when my 2 cats who were brother and sister mated. the kittens were sort of deformed but generally okay.

∙ 13y agoYes they can mate. The term is called inbreeding. I have an inbred pure bred pitbull and it's perfectly healthy at 7 years old. It depends though too. Constant inbreeding brings out the worst qualities due to a smaller gene pool. That's why dalmations are aggressive and unpredictable nowadays because they were inbred to be bred quickly because of the release of the movie "101 Dalmations".
