Kindergartenteachers should not be allowed to give homework because Kindergarten students are real small so they won't know most answers to assignments.

I disagree. I am in a teaching Psychology class and studying about how K children need to be interacting closely with you and with their families. Having them go home and ask a parent a question and having them bring it in is simple enough for their young minds. And if you put a notice in the parents cubbie and notify them of the assignment and ask them to pretend they do not know about it-- it will build the children's connection to their parents and teach them that talking with their parents and being able to ask questions about homework and other situations is good.

I agree with the second poster, with little children you need to keep ideas and lessons fresh in their minds. Kindergarten homework usually only takes a few minutes and is a fun activity for families to do together, such as finding patterns on their favorite things or identifying shapes in everyday items around their homes.

Math is one of those subjects that you have to practice to learn properly. Homework isn't required, but it's better if you have lots of practice, so most math teachers are going to give it out.

No, they could just let you muddle through and not understand the material - then hit you with a giant test that you hope you can pass because you haven't had any practice on the work!

Homework is so kids can practice what they learned, and also so the teacher can see if they are learning what they should be learning. Teachers know they need to give out homework.

Fifth grade is certainly old enough for homework. You should be doing some sort of homework in every grade, though primary school homework is usually very simple.

School districts have a homework policy. So if the school board thinks that students should have homework, then teachers must assign it.

Do teachers give too much homework?

in my opinion i think teachers give way to much homework for a student to handle. There also comes a time when i think that teachers do this to students to prepare for the future at hand. Also, i play softball so i think that they should give students less homework in one day and give it another day.
