Depends on the GPS device. Although ALL of them do have the raw data received from the satellites in order to calculate it, you would have to to consult your specific device to know if it will to provide the user with that information.

Simply put, a GPS is time data receiver. It receives time data from many satellites and according to the time it took from the data to get to the device ( always some milliseconds), it calculates the distance from each one of them. Once it has determined the distance from at least a number of satellites (usually at least 4), a mathematical function will determine the exact 3-dimensional position of the GPS itself; that is Latitude, longitude and altitude.

All you will have to do is determine whether a specific GPS brand and model will display the altitude numbers also or only latitude and longitude.

Is a GPS a VDU?

No, you cannot display arbitrary video on the screen of a GPS navigation unit and many GPS receivers have no screen (e.g. a GPS tracking recorder used on commercial vehicles).GPS is a system maintained by the US Air Force consisting of 3 segments: the space segment composed of 24 active satellites and 6 idle spare satellites, the ground segment manned by US Air Force officers that monitor and control the satellites remotely, and the user segment composed of receivers that decode the signals from the satellites to calculate latitude, longitude, and elevation.

How does GPS receivers work?

I am italian, and I have not a very good English. The device send a signal, 4 satellites receive it and measure, with the signal, the distance between they and the device. With this measures, the device calculate the only point possible in the space. In this point obviously there are the GPS. The program of the device associates the point with the point in the map. It is the work of the GPS.

What is a base station?

A base station is a GPS receiver at a known fixed location, used to derive correction information for nearby portable GPS receivers.

Does a gps give off radiation?

No. GPS receivers do not transmit or radiate anything. They just listen to radio wave radiation from the constellation of GPS satellites that orbit about 11,000 miles above the Earth.

What Is GPS Tracker?

Smartphones use GPS receivers to receive signals from GPS satellites and determine their location. GPS receivers in smartphones work by triangulating the signals from at least four GPS satellites to calculate the phone's latitude, longitude, and altitude.

What does the GPS use to map the rate of tectonic plate movement?

GPS itself does not do this. When geologists place recording GPS receivers on opposite sides of the faults that separate the tectonic plates the receivers calculate their positions (just like the GPS navigator in a car does) and when the geologists analyze the collected data they can make maps of plate movements.

How many gps transmitter can be connected with one gps receiver?

One GPS satellite can serve an unlimited number of receivers, if they have unobstructed line-of-sight. GPS receivers need to see a minimum of 4 satellites in order to calculate an accurate 3-dimensional position. Almost all of them have the ability to work with up to 12 satellites simultaneously, if they can see that many.

How does a gps satellites works?

GPS receivers are placed on the ground on opposite sides of the fault.

How does a GPS satellite work to detect movements in faults?

GPS receivers are placed on the ground on opposite sides of the fault. Data is collected to show the movement of the receivers.

Do hydro lines affect the GPS signal?

probably not, as the Global Positioning System uses data from several satellites to calculate the receivers position. At any given time, there are usually at least 4 GPS satellites above the horizon from anywhere on Earth. Only interference on the GPS frequency can impair the accuracy.
