People get cold sores from the herpes virus and can be brought on by stress, sickness, and any other thing that compromises the immune system.
Approximately two thirds (2/3) of the population of earth have theusually dormant Herpes Simplex Virus, which is the cause of 'coldsores'.

UV exposure is a common trigger for cold sores. I would not recommend their use for people with cold sores.
I'm not really sure about that. People i know sunbathe all the time and share stuff with others, but never got a cold sore. I've never even heard of that. Sorry if i wasn't an…y help. :) :( ;)
