No, the UK citizen would not become a US citizen. First the UK citizen would have to apply through INS for a work permit and perminent residency. The work permit will be issued within month (probably), but perminent residency could take 18 months or more; during which time the applicant would be expected to remain and work in the US (short overseas visits sometimes permitted). Once perminent residency has been established a 'green card' will be issued and 3-5 years after this the immigrant can apply for US citizenship.
Answer Not anymore. Not since 9/11. I believe that if the two of you marry in the US, the one of you who came from the UK has to go back to your country and submit a form to reside in the United States. This can take as long as 2 years before approval is given. If on the other hand you have a criminal record forget it completly, as you won't be allowed to come to the States to live.
Sometimes.
A US citizen can marry anybody he/she likes. If a US citizen marries a UK citizen, that alone will not entitle him/her to UK citizenship. The US Citizen will stand to lose the US citizenship if he/she applies to get naturalized as a US citizen. UK citizenship can be acquired sometimes by descent.
can a usa citizen marry a uk citizen wal visting the uk
No, your spouse would have to sponsor you for naturalization.
Besides, it will take time before the "partner" is allowed to enter the USA.
Yes. Easily. Especially being a UK citizen, it does not require the UK citizen to go to the US if needed for the immigration process.
No, marrying a U.S. citizen does not automatically grant an immigrant permanent resident or citizenship status. http://www.uscis.gov
The answer is no. But the children born from this marriage will automatically become US citizens. The spouse of US citizen will be eligible to become US citizen after he/she (the non-US citizen) stay in US for a minimum of 3 years as a Permanent Resident.
I am not sure about the UK but to Mexico the children have to have both parents consent to fly into and from Mexico.. My husband also had to go to the visa office and sign a papper giving his permission.. Hope this helps some..
Just a work visa
Marriage is a wonderful event. Yes, if a female US citizen legally marries a non US citizen in the state of Michigan, they are indeed legally married.
no
US and UK allow Dual citizenship. A person can be a US citizen and a citizen of UK if he/she desires to. But if a person applies to get naturalized as a citizen of UK when he/she is already a US citizen, then it will lead to losing US citizenship. So a person can have US & UK citizenship as long he/she is not a naturalized citizen of UK.
NOPE
No, you do not.Marrying a US citizen never automatically makes you a citizen- however, it does speed up the process if you are trying to naturalize. Normally, a legal resident has to wait 5 years before they can apply for US citizenship; if a legal resident marries a US citizen, this is shortened to 3 years.
only if the person marries a US citizen
NO.
