No, Supervisors cannot block another Supervisor. Only Community Assistants (Answers.com Employees) are able to block Supervisors. If you do attempt to block another Supervisor you will be presented with the following message "WikiAnswers Supervisors, Mentors, Senior Supervisors, and Community advisors cannot be blocked. For assistance contact WikiAnswers @ Answers.com"

How long does a ban hammer last?

The amount of duration a ban (block) lasts will vary on the supervisor and what the ban (block) was for. For example, if the block was for cyberbullying, the block is permanent as it's completely unacceptable to bully someone else on this website. Another example is if the block is for blanking answers or adding links to answers over-and-over after a few warnings, the block could be 24 hours for example - this will vary on the supervisor and how lenient they are.

How do you block a user on WikiAnswers who continues to leave silly messages on your message board?

You must be a Supervisor in order to block a user. Here is how to solve your dilemma: First, ask the user to stop writing silly messages on your message board. If he/she continues the act, contact a Supervisor. The Supervisor will then step in, and if you message the Supervisor about being sent even more silly messages after the Supervisor has stepped in, the Supervisor can issue a block.

Can a WikiAnswers supervisor block himself or herself?

No, this is not possible.

Is it possible to block a Supervisor on WikiAnswers?

Yes. A Supervisor can be blocked just like a Contributor can. They will lose their access to WikiAnswers in such a case. They will be "locked out" until the Block lifts, and that will depend on the length of time the Block was placed for. (The Supervisor or Community Adviser who places the Block selects how long it's for.) Note that another Supervisor or Community Adviser can Unblock that Supervisor at any time.A Block is serious, and if a Contributor gets a Block, that individual has "earned" it. They're not handed out for fun. Further, if a Supervisor gets a Block, it's more serious. Any Supervisor or Community Adviser who places a Block on a Supervisor will almost certainly drop of a couple of notes to Senior Supervisors. This will inform them of the action taken and the reasoning behind it so that the situation can be looked at. Community Advisers and other Supervisors will review the issues and decide what action is appropriate. In such a case, the Block may immediately be lifted, or it may be continued (with or without a warning), or the Supervisor may have his power to be a Supervisor stripped from him and be reverted to a Contributor. Lastly, a Permanent Block can be instituted and left in place. The individual is "banished" from the Community. There are some instances of Supervisors getting a Block, but usually the "offense" is minor and things get straightened out. But there are those instances where a Supervisor "looses it" and gets a Permanent Block and is "locked out" of the Community. Unfortunate, but not unheard of. It's a sad thing. Note that Supervisors are required to "behave themselves" here just like a Contributor. They are tasked with setting an example. They are, in fact, held to a higher standard of conduct, and more than one Supervisor has gotten a note from Community Advisors or Senior Supervisors chastizing them for being "out of line" and making suggestions as to what should change.A Supervisor is, after all, as human as anyone else in the Community. But these Supervisors, these volunteers (yes, volunteers - just like other Contributors) are generally well mannered. And make no mistake about their mission; they are here to help you as a Contributor. They serve and are responsible to the Community and that's you.

How do supervisors ban members of WikiAnswers?

When a user is violating the WikiAnswers terms of use a supervisor may block them using the "Block Vandal" feature. The supervisor enters the username or IP address they would like to block, the duration of the block and the reason for the block before submitting. When possible, the supervisor should first post a message on the user's personal message board educating them about the policy they are violating. If the behavior continues after that, then a block should be pursued.
