No Actually there is testing to determine if your child has rett syndrome, although prior to 1999 they were no tests available. Fortunately there have been great strides in genetic testing and with advanced medical research and the discovery of the Mecp2 gene by Huda Zoghbi and her team of lab research assistants, the situation has changed. Currently there is a prenatal test that can be taken to determine if the fetus tht you carry has CDKL5-Related Atypical Rett Syndrome as well as MECP2-Related Disorders. Here is the links to the laboratories that currently provide genetic testing for rett syndrome: http://www.genetests.org/query?testid=251630 http://www.genetests.org/query?testid=21594

Historically, many older moms have had amniocentesis during pregnancy to detect its presence. Down syndrome is a condition caused by chromosomal defects. Amniocentesis carries a risk of causing miscarriage, so now there are new, less invasive tests available that can be done during the first trimester.

No, there is no pre-natal screening for Autism.

Asperger Syndrome is no longer a diagnosis, it was merged with Autism - Autism can currently only be diagnosed based on behaviour and not able to be assessed until a child is at least a few months to a few years old. Hopefully pre-natal screening will not be used because currently ableism within society could see it being used to prevent Autistic people being born.

In a word, no. There is no test as yet to discover if a baby has any form of autism before birth.

What is pre-menstrual syndrome?

Pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) is a social construct, it's a collection of symptoms that are attributed to menstruation and around a week before menstruation, symptoms then ease during menstruation. There are over 150 symptoms associated with PMS but there's no evidence that PMS actually exists, again it's regarded as a social construct: negative symptoms associated with menstruation and framed as a 'syndrome'. Symptoms can include mood changes, bloating, cramping, and breast tenderness.
