There is some evidence to suggest genetics play a part in developmental dyslexia (you are born with it). If a child has one dyslexic parent then a boy has a 50% chance of being dyslexic, a girl has a 25% chance. However, it sometimes skips the female children but they become carriers for their children. Check the web sites of the British Dyslexia Association for references and details.
There is substantial indication that dyslexia and related disorders are hereditary, at least in some cases, but the jury is still out. Please see the link below the ads for more information.
To some extent. It is statistically proven that if you have someone who has dyslexia, you will be much more likely to, although you won't NECESSARILY have it.
Yes; however they can occur outside of inheritance.

It is unfair to force him to go to a normal school, he has dyslexia. It was proven that most cases of dyslexia are hereditary.
Absolutely. Dyslexia is not a hereditary condition.
Absolutely! If you have a close family member who has dyslexia, you are much more likely to have it yourself. Both my father and my mother's father have dyslexia, therefore it is not such a surprise that I do. Also, if you have people who are left-handed in your family, that has been proven to increase your likelihood of having dyslexia.
