Can't science and religion both be correct?

When science and religion disagree then they are not both correct. There are religious grounds to believe that the Earth is about 6,000 years old, and there are scientific grounds to believe that the Earth is about 4,500,000,000 years old, and those two age estimates cannot both be correct (although they could both be wrong). However, there are plenty of scientific assertions and religious assertions which create no such conflicts. Most scientific conclusions do not involve religious doctrine; the bible, and other sources of religious revelation, say nothing about nuclear physics, for example. Similarly, there are many religious issues about which science says nothing. Some important religions urge us to take one day a week off work (the Sabbath), and science has no basis to either agree or disagree with this idea. Science has nothing to say, for or against a principle such as the Golden Rule. In this sense, science and religion can both be correct.

There are also ways to find compromises, even when science and religion apparently disagree. For example, there is a lot of controversy over the question of whether life came into being through evolution or through divine creation, however it is also possible to hypothesize that evolution is the means by which God created life. This is a kind of combination of the Book of Genesis and the Origin of Species.

It is still possible that in the future evolution of human thought, either science or religion will come to be seen as the winner of the debate. Perhaps in the future, all truth will be religious truth, or all truth will be scientific truth. But more likely, we will continue to live with a mixture of both.

Why are science and religion best if they are totally ignored?

Science is known while religion is unknown.Science is physically proven while reliogion is mentally proven. Thus science is in the past while religion is in the future. However, both science and religion does not raise the standard of human evolution and the middle path between these two extremes is 'spiritual'. A spiritual journey travel inwards while science and religion delve on outwardly matters.

Are religion and science mutually exclusive?

No. Religion is a faith based interpretation of that which is. Science is an observation based interpretation of that which is. They are both interpretations of that which is. Where they diverge is when faith and observation do not agree. In this case, either the faith needs to be refined or the observation needs to be refined or, as is often the case, both need to be refined, because they are still interpretations of the same thing - that which is.

Are there Scientific proofs in religions?

== == Religion is all about faith, whilst science is a branch of overall knowledge for mankind. Religion is about belief whilst science emphasises more on knowledge-seeking. However religion is something that cannot be proven - right or wrong and true of false. Religion & Science at times may not be compatible or can run parallel to one another. Just as science cannot prove religion, it goes without saying religion cannot empirically prove anything on science. However, for believers science is part of religion, and NOT vice versa. ---- Thus, there is no way to prove the truth of any religion scientifically. All religions are equally based on faith alone, and which one you choose to follow, if you choose to follow a religion at all, is simply a matter of faith. Religion is the source of all knowledge of the world. Religion is for our spiritual ascension while science is for our physical ascension in this world. Both the disciplines are necessary for the successful physical as well as eternal life. Both are distinct in themselves and hence cannot be compared at any instance. Science cannot reach the spiritual zenith of religion and Religion cannot bow down to the levels to justify the theories of Science. "RELIGION BEGINS WHERE OUR INTELLECT ENDS". The things for which we could reason out automatically becomes 'science' for us. And the things which are beyond the reach of our intellect and power of reasoning automatically becomes 'religion' for us. Science is the vast ground and Religion is the unending sky. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can science agree with religion?

Yes. Religion is a faith based interpretation and Science is an observation based interpretation of that which is. They are both interpretations of that which is. Where they diverge is when faith and observation do not agree. In this case, either the faith needs to be refined or the observation needs to be refined or, as is often the case, both need to be refined, because they are still interpretations of the same thing - that which is.

Can science or religion give a definite answer as to whether God exists?

no Science will focus on an answer based purely on empirical evidence. i.e if you cant see, hear, touch, taste, smell, observe, record and evident it. Then it can't be real. as well as seek to disprove any claims that religion may propose toward there being any actual physical evidence. Most religion will focus on the entirely intangible, claiming that Pure faith is the only way to God. In truth there is no real way to know except to find evidence where you can see it in the physical realm and let faith get you the rest of the way, Science and Religion can work hand in hand with both allowing for the existence of God.
