It is always recommended when you replace timing belt to replaces any and all timing belt components, but if they do not show ware and tension correctly then you are good to go, it is always easier to do preventive maintenance then repair or replace due to component damage, usually you can purchase a complete cam timing belt set. Peace of mind is cheap. Not to mention doing the job right the first time or doing it a second time, labor and time.
Turn the Tensioner bolt clockwise (to the right)and the tensioner itself will move causing slack in the belt.
I cant answer that because alternator tensioner fell off and I'm having trouble finding one.

1.4 Eight valve engine. The water pump is the timing belt tensioner on this model. you need to slacken the pump and rotate it to tension the belt.
Just remove the bolt that holds it to the front of the engine and take it off.

There is no adjustment on the spring / Tensioner. You either have the wrong belt are the tensioner itself is bad. Replace tensioner are belt.
If you checked the belt and you think it is loose ,change it. It has a tensioner built in that sets the tension when the belt is installed.
