1040 EZ would probably be your best bet.
Yes. The IRS has income guidelines for determining whether dependents are required to file tax returns. Generally, for 2008 income, dependents are required to file if single under 65 with earned income of over $5,450 ($5,700 for 2009) or if married under 65 with earned income of over $6,800 ($7,100 for 2008). Even if your income is below the level requiring you to file, you should file if income tax was withheld from your earnings in order to receive a refund of that tax.
On a W-9 form for income tax purposes, if a person is single with no dependents, they are allowed to claim one person (themselves) only. Some people prefer to have the government withhold a little extra from their paychecks so that they do not end up paying in at the end of the year.
Yes. The IRS has income guidelines for determining whether dependents are required to file their own tax returns. You don't get income tax..you pay it. You may get a refund of OVERPAID estimated tax, like getting money back when you use a $20 bill to pay a $10 charge. You paid $12. It doesn't make a difference what you claim onyour W-4, the amount of tax you actually pay is determined by your 1040 return.....and that should reflect your actual number of dependents and exemptions. Claiming 0 on W-4 (or 1040) would mean you have the HIGHEST amount of tax withheld and on your return would pay more than if you had dependents.
1040 EZ would probably be your best bet.
If your children have enough income for you to be concerned about this, you should consult a tax professional instead of relying on possibly incorrect information from the internet, but under some circumstances you can opt to include your minor dependents' income in your own return instead of filing independent returns for them.

One person files one tax return for whatever income and expenses that person may have, whether relating to a business or a home. However, if you business is incorporated, then it has to file corporate income tax as well.
Whether you're required to file a return generally depends upon your age, filing status, and income. For 2008 income, Single under age 65 with no dependents isn't required to file if your income is under $8,950 ($9,350 for 2009). If you're claimed as a dependent on your parents' or someone else's return, then you'd be required to file for 2008 if your earned income was over $5,450 ($5,700 for 2009). However, even if you're not required to file a return, you should go ahead and file if income tax was withheld from your earnings to receive a refund of that tax.
Yes, you must file a tax return, even if someone else claims you as a dependent, if you had earned income or interest. Most taxpayers who are claimed as dependents on someone else's return use form 1040EZ, especially if they claim the standard deduction and do not need to itemize deductions.
